Veolia Water – Edinburgh –Water Industry
The Project
Located on the edge of Edinburgh, Seafield WWTW is the largest treatment works in the East of Scotland, treating waste for a population of approximately 850,000 people. This equates to 300 million litres of wastewater every day – enough to fill 121 Olympic sized swimming pools. In other words “It’s a lot of sewage”.
Falcon Electrical Testing were awarded the task of carrying out the fixed wiring electrical inspection and testing of the entire site which was a challenge as any mistakes made on this site could have potentially been catastrophic.
Having worked within the water industry for a number of years we knew that this was going to require extra planning and care to ensure that disruption of the plant was kept to an absolute minimum and that extra safety measures would have to be put in place to protect all personnel within the works not to mention the essential running of the plant itself.
A detailed programme of works and health and safety risk assessment was put in place for the duration of the contract along with a permit to work system which was carefully monitored on a daily basis.
The contract lasted for a number of months and thousands of circuits were tested using the industry leading test equipment and software. All documentation was submitted to the client in paper and electronic format.
The operation was a success and we are continuing our long relationship with Veolia Wate
